In later-October I had the great pleasure of photographing Tracy and Brandon's intimate Maine coast wedding. The plan was for a small private ceremony along the rocky shoreline below the York Harbor Inn. Like many weddings this past season, the weather forced a last minute change to that plan.
Gray skies and a very wet Inn...
The rocky Maine coast in beautiful, even on a rainy day, as the image below and several further down will show. With the overcast skies, the colors found in these wet rocks really pop...
Along with the stones above -- which I love -- here are just a couple details shots prior to the ceremony...
Forced indoors, with Tracy and Brandon and a half dozen of their closest family, we gathered in the lobby of the Inn where they recited their vows in front of a lovely stone fireplace, which was a welcome site on such a damp day!
Tracy and Brandon wrote their own vows. Here Tracy reads her's to Brandon. A touching, heartfelt moment.
Brandon's vows, though also heartfelt, were just as comical. Brandon had Tracy -- and the rest of us -- in stitches!
Then the exchanging of rings...
And their first kiss...
Following some formal family portraits, we were psyched for a break in the rain. The skies did not clear, but it wasn't raining and that was enough for us. We dashed to the shoreline...
And made a quick stop atop the rocky bluffs across the street from the Inn. In the image below, I love Brandon's expression and the vibrant Fall colors popping off of the leaves.
After a few more shots we kept moving down to the shore, not knowing if the rain was going to start again or not. In this shot, I love how the coast line disappears into the fog...

As was inevitable, the rain did start, so we broke out umbrellas and captured a few classic rainy day wedding images...
And I will finish with my favorite image of the day, and one of my favorites from the 2009 wedding season...
