Kim & Andy: An Inn at Pleasant Lake Wedding

Friday, August 12, 2011

Rounding out my June weddings this summer was Kim and Andy's special day at the Inn at Pleasant Lake. The week of their celebration we had a fair amount of rain, and this day dawned quite ominous. Fortunately, the showers stayed at bay, and the sun even peeked out for the ceremony held on the lawn of the Inn. It wasn't until we were all safely under the tent during the reception that the deluge ensued, and the weather proofing of my LowePro roller bag was tested again (the first time was when my basement flooded this past March, which is a whole other story!). So, without further adieu, I am excited to share a glimpse of Kim and Andy's big day!

We arrived as Kim was getting ready with her ladies...

Kim's mom begins to tie up her gown...

Love this image. What a smile!

And Kim's big green eyes. With close-up portraits the expression is always in the eyes...

Meanwhile, Andy was putting his own finishing touches on, here trying to get his tie just right...

He got it...

And a couple of portraits...

Prior to the ceremony Kim and Andy opted for a first look. This is becoming exceedingly popular with couples, not only allowing them to see each other before the rest of their family and friends do, but also to get their family portraits out of the way so that they can attend their cocktail reception.

Then it was off to the outdoor ceremony...

Kim was walked down the isle by her mother...

And Ando looked like he could hardly contain his excitement!

Kim was excited too, it would seem...

Always a favorite moment: the recession...

Before the rains came -- though they were threatening, we left for some portraits of just the newlyweds...

By the barn...

And my favorites, but the lake...

Then it was back to the tent for the reception...

Here are a handful of details, including the canned pickle favors...

Just like the recession from the service, introductions are always fun. Here Kim and Andy are welcomed by their guests...

A fun capture from their first dance...

Following dinner, the band Last Kid Picked kicked things off, and nearly blew the top off the tent. Fortunately they didn't because the rain was pounding as much as their bass! The flower girl jumped right up on stage with them, and she spent most of the night there too.

I'll end with one of my favorite images from the day. Kim and Andy were gracious enough to follow me out into the rain where we were able to capture this image...

Thank you Kim and Andy for having me at your celebration. And thank you to David for spending the day shooting with me.
